Testing – Inspection – Monitoring

SERVICE OVERVIEW

TESTING – INSPECTION – MONITORING

Testing, inspection and monitoring provide a technical basis for the design, construction, management and operation of structures. PSC provides these services to clarify foundation conditions, control the quality of materials, verify the performance of structures and track their stability throughout design, construction and operation. Results are collected, analysed and assessed on a scientific basis, providing the foundation for acceptance, safety assessment and appropriate remedial measures.

VALUE DELIVERED TO PROJECTS

With a laboratory accredited under code LAS-XD 58.001, an experienced technical team and specialised equipment, PSC provides objective, accurate and traceable data. Testing, inspection and monitoring results help project owners control quality, identify risks early, assess safety and make technical decisions throughout the life cycle of a structure.

PSC IS COMMITTED TO LONG-TERM PARTNERSHIPS WITH INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS, BUILT ON RESPONSIBILITY AND DISCIPLINE

DETAILED SERVICE CATEGORIES

TESTING – INSPECTION – MONITORING

01

TESTING

In-situ and laboratory testing for geotechnical investigations, foundation design, construction quality control and acceptance of works.

  • Standard Penetration Tests (SPT), Cone Penetration Tests (CPT), Dynamic Probing (DPT) and in-situ Vane Shear Tests (VST);
  • Static load tests on ground and piles, and verification of foundation bearing capacity;
  • Borehole permeability tests, water pressure (Lugeon) tests in rock and determination of hydrogeological properties;
  • Tests to determine the physical and mechanical properties, composition and characteristics of soil and rock;
  • UU and CU triaxial compression tests and other specialist geotechnical tests;
  • Testing of construction materials, concrete and roller-compacted concrete (RCC);
  • Quality testing of earth fill, rockfill, aggregates, mortar and other construction materials;
  • Sampling, storage, transport, analysis and reporting of test results.
02

SAFETY INSPECTION OF DAMS AND HYDROPOWER STRUCTURES

PSC works with consulting firms on dam and hydropower safety inspections. PSC carries out the surveying, testing and monitoring work assigned to it and provides technical data for assessing the condition and safety of the structures.

  • Survey and record the condition of items within the inspection scope;
  • Carry out testing and collect data for the inspection under the approved programme;
  • Carry out monitoring and compile data on the behaviour of the structures as assigned;
  • Report the results of PSC’s specialist work as input for the inspection consultant;
  • Work with the consultant to clarify data, assess anomalies and complete the inspection dossier.
03

MONITORING

Periodic or continuous monitoring to track the behaviour of structures and the natural environment, detecting abnormal changes early to support safety management.

  • Monitoring of settlement, horizontal displacement, tilt and deformation of structures;
  • Monitoring of movement of foundations, slopes, dams, powerhouses and other structures;
  • Monitoring of cracks, expansion joints, settlement joints and structural behaviour;
  • Monitoring of groundwater levels, pore water pressure, seepage pressure and seepage flow;
  • Monitoring of the stability of slopes, riverbanks, shorelines and landslide-prone areas;
  • Monitoring of deformation in civil, industrial, energy and technical infrastructure works;
  • Bathymetric surveys of riverbeds, reservoirs, estuaries and nearshore waters;
  • Monitoring, calculation and assessment of sedimentation and erosion in reservoirs and estuaries;
  • Establishment of monitoring benchmarks, instrumentation and databases;
  • Analysis of data series, setting of alert thresholds and preparation of periodic assessment reports.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Testing – Inspection – Monitoring

What is the difference between testing, inspection and monitoring?

Testing determines material properties and technical parameters; inspection verifies and assesses structural quality and condition; monitoring tracks displacement, deformation and other relevant parameters over time.

Is the PSC laboratory accredited?

Yes. The PSC laboratory is accredited under code LAS-XD 58.001 and is supported by an experienced technical team and specialised equipment.

Which field tests does PSC perform?

PSC performs Standard Penetration Tests (SPT), Cone Penetration Tests (CPT), Dynamic Penetration Tests (DPT) and field vane shear tests (VST); static load tests on ground and piles; permeability and water pressure tests in rock; and in-situ rock mechanics tests in adits with dilatometer deformation measurement.

What does PSC monitor?

PSC monitors settlement, horizontal displacement, tilt and deformation of structures; surveys riverbeds, reservoirs and estuaries; monitors sedimentation and erosion; and sets up monitoring benchmarks, instruments, databases and alert thresholds.

How do testing, inspection and monitoring results help project owners?

The results help project owners control quality, identify risks early, assess safety and make technical decisions throughout the life cycle of a structure.
